After a series of series
political situations and the Russian plane crash in 2015, and all the
consequences that has been faced due to this upheaval that made the tourist
drove away from visiting Egypt, it has been officially declared that Egypt’s
tourism revenues jumped 211.8 percent year on year to $5.3 billion in the
first nine months of 2017, compared with $1.7 billion the year before.
The number of
tourists who visited Egypt until the end of September 2017 has been elevated to
55.3 % to 5.9 million, with European visitors reaching 3.2 million with an 85 %
increase from the previous year. The number is still below the 14.7 million who
visited Egypt in 2010 before the revolution of January 2011, but the figures
are getting better compared with the previous years’ figures that the Egyptian
tourism revenue figures were $3.4 billion in 2016.
The German
touristic and business travel website “FVW” announced that the Egyptian tourism
continued to recover significantly during the month of September and That the
Red Sea, especially the cities of Marsa Alam and Hurghada, has highly demand
than Canary Islands which was the largest winter destination for German
tourists, who were in the first rank in the nationalities that visit the Red
Sea since the cessation of Russian tourism to Egypt by the end of 2015.
The site showed that the latest data issued by “Traveltainment”, the
leading travel and tourism booking agency and leading reservations provider,
showed an 86% increase in bookings for German tourists to Hurghada, as well as
a 121% increase in reservations for Marsa Alam after becoming the preferred
destinations for German tourists who wish to spend their winter holidays on the
Red Sea coast, with lower demand for travel to other major islands of Las
Palmas, Arrecife and Southern Tenerife.
